Thanks to the combination of BMW EfficientDynamics measures and efficient diesel engines, the BMW X1 also delivers impressively low fuel consumption and emission figures. BMW New X1 Lets face it the X1 has always been destined for success. I mean let’s look at it, BMW, SUV and a price-tage below Rs 30 lakhs. If that is not tempting we don’t know what is! Obviously the X1 is not alone namely the fantastic Audi Q3 that has just joined this segment and is ready to fight for the crown and looks confident for sure. But BMW has also unleashed this- the new X1. It is not a huge change but some important updates have been done to make it a force to be reckoned with in this segment. Changes include its styling, interiors and features. Plus the engines are equipped with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, an eight-speed automatic transmission , the Auto Start-Stop function, Brake Energy Regeneration, ECO PRO mode and a wider range of BMW EfficientDynamics technology. At the front the foglamps are now level with an extra crease line that forms a discreet scoop along the upper edge of the lights and continues into the side walls. The increased surface area is painted in body colour. In the upper headlight area, a chrome-coated accent strip now cuts across the top of the twin circular headlights, while an LED accent light – included as part of the optional xenon light package, complete with LED light rings for the daytime driving lights. At the rear there is a new subdivision of apron, bumper and underguard, with the repositioned reflectors now also bordered by surfaces painted in body colour. As a result, the black plastic elements are slimmer, while the silver-coloured underguard has a more striking surface structure. Furthermore, the contours of the tail lights featuring LEDs now flow into the line of the tailgate handle. The interior changes are namely the side of the centre console angled towards the driver is now shallower. This sharply highlights the driver-focused principle of the cockpit design. The panel for the sound and climate system controls now has a high-gloss black surface to match the air vent surround. As you can see the changes are subtle. The BMW X1 xDrive20d has an output of 184 bhp and torque rising to 380 Nm. The new top-line model among the diesels is the BMW X1 xDrive25d. Delivering 218 bhp and peak torque of 450 Nm. The entry-level unit is the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine in the BMW X1 sDrive18i which has an output of 150 bhp and delivers maximum torque of 200 Nm. As you can see the changes are subtle at best but are enough to keep the X1 fresh. Expected Launch Month : February 2013 Expected Price : Rs 22.00 L – 32.00 L
